The Foggy Bean Coffee Bar is adding two seasonal Junior Barista positions to our summer team for the period of June 1 until September 2, 2025.
The Junior Barista position is for someone with some experience as a barista who is looking to gain more skills, speed, and confidence behind the bar. You will spend time at the counter taking orders and assisting the lead barista during peak coffee hours. You will pour espresso and steam milk during less busy times of the day.
Welcome customers and share information about our products and services
Take customer orders and process payments
Prepare iced drinks, a local tea menu, and filter coffee
Pour espresso, steam milk, and adjust the grinders with supervision
Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace
Attend to opening and closing duties, including dishwashing, cleaning front and back-of-house, resetting the space for next day service, and restocking retail items
Minimum one year of experience working in a café/coffee/bakery/food truck environment (counter and barista experience specifically)
Self-motivated to develop your skills and learn about specialty coffee
A friendly and welcoming attitude. Comfortable welcoming new customers and regulars in a warm and professional manner
The ability to work well independently as well as with a small team
Reliable – we are a small team and we count on each other to arrive on time and be ready to work
Work well under pressure
Secondary School diploma or equivalent
Valid FoodSafe certificate is an asset
$18.50/hr plus tips
On-the-job training in a coffee-specific environment – level up your barista and coffee skills
Early mornings! Shifts start early and leave you with later afternoons and evenings off
Full-time schedule: 4 days on, 3 off weekly. More hours are available, but 3 days off is a nice way to enjoy the short summer season
Part-time: 2–3 consecutive days/week
