About the Role

The Foggy Bean Coffee Bar is adding two seasonal Experienced Baristas to start May 2025. The position continues until at least September 2.

There is a possibility to continue into the Fall and Winter.
Our only focus is coffee. If you're wanting to grow your skills in a coffee-primary environment, then consider joining us.

Our team is small and professional, and the pace is fast during the summer season. We are open year-round for take-away, with seating on a seasonal outdoor patio. We roast our own beans at our headquarters in Ucluelet.

What You’ll Do

The candidate for the Experienced Barista role is fully competent dialing in the espresso grinders, pouring espresso, steaming milk, and making specialty coffee drinks. You would be responsible for quality control during your shift and take a leadership role when working with a Junior Barista.

In this role you will be:

  • Dialing in and pouring espresso, adjusting the grinders and pour as needed throughout your shift

  • Steaming dairy milk and plant-based alternatives for various espresso drinks and tea lattes

  • Preparing iced drinks, a local tea menu, and filter coffee

  • Taking customer orders, processing payments, and handling cash

  • Welcoming customers and demonstrating product knowledge

  • Maintaining a clean and well-organized workspace

  • Responsible for Food Safety during your shift

  • Opening and closing the coffee bar. Duties include dishwashing, cleaning front and back-of-house, resetting the space for next day service, and restocking retail items

What We’re Looking For

Applicants should possess the following:

  • A passion for specialty coffee and developing your skills and industry knowledge

  • Enjoyment in engaging with new customers and regulars in a warm, welcoming, and professional manner

  • The ability to work well independently as well as with a small team

  • Be calm and consistent under pressure

  • Have a minimum one year of experience in a similar position

  • Have a Secondary School diploma or equivalent

  • Have a valid Food Safety certificate or willingness to take the course

What We Offer

  • $19.50/hr plus tips

  • If you need your FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate and complete the season with us, we will reimburse you for the program cost

  • Early mornings! Shifts start early and leave you with later afternoons and evenings off

    • Full-time: 4 days on, 3 off weekly. More hours are available, but 3 days off is a nice way to enjoy the short summer season

    • Part-time: 2–3 consecutive days/week
